With the developments in the Myanmar Banking industry, May Myat Thu has been a part and in the center of it. Since her return from Singapore in 2012, she first joined AYA Bank, setting up Corporate Affairs – initiating and supporting the Bank’s set up of Corporate Governance, Board and Board Committees, as well as the membership to United Nations Global Compact as the first Myanmar Bank. She then took over the role of Head of Human Resource and grew the number of employees from 2,500 to 7,000 in 3 years, supporting the rapid growth strategy of the Bank. She now heads the Credit Department, taking over the role since late 2017 – overseeing the Bank’s credit and collection policies and procedures and is responsible for the overall management of the department – including the underwriting and analysis to ensure the overall quality of the Bank’s lending portfolio.
